The maned wolf (latin name: Chrysocyon brachyurus)

The maned wolf (latin name: Chrysocyon brachyurus) is native to South America. It can grow to 42 inches tall, 49 inches long, and can weigh 75 pounds. Unlike other large dogs, the maned wolf hunts alone. Over 50% of it's diet is vegetation, and the rest is made up of small animals. It is not really a wolf, but it is not a fox, coyote, dog, or jackal, it is its own species. They use their urine to communicate, which smells like cannabis. The police went looking for smokers at Rotterdam Zoo once because of this. It is listed as "Near Threatened" by the IUCN.
